Morocco: From Arab isolation to insipid opportunism

ALGIERS- The headlines splashed across Makhzenian newspapers this morning shed light on Morocco’s opportunistic behavior and its dependence on anti-Algerian sentiment. It’s hardly shocking that they resort to imaginative tales and deceitful tactics to undermine Algeria’s undeniable greatness.

Algeria does not require any external support to express its views on crucial matters affecting the Arab world, unlike Morocco. Algeria has always been vocal in its opinions, both within and beyond the League of Arab States.

Algeria’s unwavering stance on important issues has earned it a reputation as a strong and independent nation. Its ability to stand on its own two feet is a testament to its resilience and determination. Algeria’s voice is heard loud and clear, and its opinions are respected by its peers in the Arab world and beyond.

In contrast, Morocco has often aligned itself with other powers to advance its interests, which has led to criticism from some quarters. Algeria’s approach, on the other hand, is based on a firm belief in its own capabilities and a commitment to promoting the interests of the Arab world as a whole.

Morocco’s attempt to diminish Algeria’s success at the Algiers summit is nothing more than jealousy and a sick desire to undermine the Algerian presidency. The Algiers summit was a resounding success, recognized by all, including the host country, the Secretary General of the Arab Organization, and several other heads of state and government who expressed their support.

It is unfortunate that Morocco has chosen to engage in such petty behavior, rather than focusing on the important issues at hand. The Algiers summit was a critical opportunity for leaders to come together and discuss pressing regional concerns, such as the Palestinian cause, security, economic development, and political stability.

Despite Morocco’s attempts to detract from the summit’s achievements, the international community has recognized the important progress that was made.

Morocco’s attempt to applaud Saudi Arabia for the reintegration of Syria during the Jeddah summit was a blatant effort to undermine Algeria’s tireless efforts to bring Arab countries together and unify their voice. Morocco’s actions are nothing but insipid opportunism, lacking any genuine concern for the greater good of the Arab world.

It is disappointing to see a country prioritize its own interests over the well-being of the region as a whole. Such behavior only serves to further divide and weaken the Arab world, hindering progress and cooperation.

Instead, we should strive for genuine collaboration and unity, recognizing that our collective strength lies in our ability to work together towards common goals. Only then can we truly achieve lasting peace and prosperity for all Arab nations.

Furthermore, it is imperative to acknowledge the truth that Morocco has deliberately ignored, as it is too preoccupied with its malicious campaign of slander. Algeria has always invested in promoting Arab unity and its associated causes, driven by a deep-rooted conviction in its principles rather than merely seeking to enhance its brand image. This principle is so sacred and unassailable that the Makhzen, unable to measure up, has resorted to futile attempts to tarnish it.

While the Makhzen and its propaganda machine derive pleasure from targeting Algeria, it is worth questioning what Morocco has done for the Arab cause. In reality, it has sold out to its Zionist ally, betrayed the central cause, and caused disunity within the Arab world. It is high time for Morocco to reflect on its actions and take concrete steps towards promoting Arab unity, rather than engaging in baseless accusations and slander.
