ALGIERS– A “Made in Algeria” motor oil manufacturing plant has just opened its doors in the wilaya of Biskra. The new factory, inaugurated a few weeks ago, has a production capacity of 60,000 tonnes/year, i.e. a 15% reduction in the import bill. It aims to export to African and Arab countries, reported the daily El Watan in its edition of Thursday, May 4, 2023.
This plant, which has generated 900 direct and 1,200 indirect jobs, belongs to Petro-Baraka, a pioneer in the field of storage and distribution of petroleum products, LPG/C, oils and greases, car maintenance products, as well as marketing and installation of KIT GPL/C. This company, based in Biskra, has a network of more than 200 service stations under the “Petro-Baraka” label.
On May 1, on radio channel 2, the president of the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH), Rachid Nadil, indicated that Algeria will soon end the import of industrial oils thanks to three investments (two Algerians and a foreigner) that started to manufacture these products.
