MoU to strengthen cooperation between Algeria, Mauritania inked

ALGIERS-  This is his first trip. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, on Monday, began a visit to Mauritania, as special envoy of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the one-on-one talks held by Ahmed Attaf with his Mauritanian counterpart were extended to delegations from the two countries.

The two ministers also addressed issues of common interest at the Maghreb and Arab levels. In addition to the latest developments in the Sahel, Sahara region and the continental level in general.

In this sense, they stressed the importance of strengthening the consensus in the positions of the two countries with a view to confronting various common threats and fighting for peace in order to contribute effectively to the promotion of the objectives of peace, security and development at the regional, continental and international levels.

At the end of the bilateral talks, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultations aimed at establishing “a lasting mechanism for strengthening political coordination between the two sisterly countries”.
