Mozambican President Nyusi Arrives in Algeria for 7th GECF Summit

ALGIERS-  The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, is set to embark on a three-day visit to Algeria starting this Wednesday, at the invitation of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The visit aims to bolster and consolidate the longstanding ties of fraternity and solidarity between Algeria and Mozambique.

According to a statement from the Office of the President, President Nyusi’s visit underscores the commitment to enhancing the historical bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. During his stay in Algiers, President Nyusi will hold discussions with President Tebboune, focusing on strengthening the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between their peoples and countries.

This visit comes on the eve of Mozambique’s participation in the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi will attend the summit, representing Mozambique.

Accompanying President Nyusi will be Mozambique’s Minister of the Interior, Pascoal Ronda, Vice Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves, and Agriculture and Development, Olegario Banze. It is noteworthy that Mozambique’s Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Joaquim Zacarias, arrived in Algiers earlier today.

Upon his arrival, Carlos Joaquim Zacarias was warmly welcomed at the presidential lounge of Houari Boumediene International Airport by Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, as stated in a press release from the ministry.

This visit underscores the commitment of both countries to deepening their bilateral relations and exploring avenues for further collaboration across various sectors.
