ALGIERS– The Algerian government announced the appointment of Mohamed-Nadir Larbaoui as the new Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic. Renowned for his distinguished diplomatic career, Larbaoui brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this crucial role.
Having served as the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, Larbaoui has showcased his diplomatic acumen on numerous occasions. His exceptional track record includes holding prestigious positions such as the Algerian Ambassador to Egypt and the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the Arab League of Member States. He succeeded Abdelaziz Khellef, and his notable achievements include leading the Algerian negotiators during the finalization of the Convention on the delimitation of maritime borders with Tunisia, which was signed in Algiers on July 11, 2011.
Furthermore, Larbaoui demonstrated his leadership skills as the Director General of Legal and Consular Affairs, where he chaired the National Commission responsible for repatriating foreigners who sought refuge in Algeria following the fall of Colonel Maamar El Gaddafi in Libya.
Larbaoui’s diplomatic prowess extends beyond these accomplishments. He has also served as the Ambassador to Pakistan and played a vital role as a member of the Board of Directors of the Maghreb Center for Studies and Research. His diplomatic victories against representatives of the Makhzen are testament to his remarkable abilities.
The announcement of Larbaoui’s appointment comes in conjunction with a partial cabinet reshuffle conducted by President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The reshuffle aims to strengthen the government’s effectiveness and further align its objectives with the nation’s aspirations.
Speaking on behalf of the Presidency of the Republic, spokesman Samir Aggoune highlighted Larbaoui’s outstanding qualifications and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to the nation’s progress.
