National Democratic Rally Denounces EU Parliament Resolution as a Flagrant Violation of Algerian Sovereignty

Algiers, Algeria | January 24th, 2025 — The National Democratic Rally (RND) has strongly condemned the recent resolution adopted by the European Parliament, describing it as an unjustified and blatant interference in Algeria’s internal affairs, as well as an infringement on its sovereignty and the independence of its judiciary.

In an official statement released on its social media platform, the RND labeled the resolution as an overreach that undermines Algeria’s constitutional institutions. “This decision constitutes a flagrant intrusion into Algeria’s domestic matters and a violation of its sovereignty and independent judicial system,” the statement emphasized.

The party underscored that the Algerian judiciary is the sole entity authorized to adjudicate matters concerning Algerian citizens, adding, “No foreign body, including the European Parliament, has the right to interfere in these matters.”

Baseless Allegations and Political Maneuvers

The RND firmly denounced the resolution as being founded on false claims and malicious accusations designed to tarnish Algeria’s reputation on the international stage. It stressed that this action reflects a politically motivated agenda aimed at exerting undue pressure on Algeria.

The statement further highlighted the involvement of various political groups within the European Parliament, including French lawmakers, who collaborated to demand the release of an unnamed Algerian citizen at the center of the controversy. The RND argued, “This collusion reveals the politically driven motives behind the resolution, which seeks to target Algeria through illegitimate means.”

The party accused the European Parliament of attempting to blackmail Algeria and reiterated that the Algerian judiciary operates independently, free from external influence. “Algeria is a sovereign state and will not tolerate any foreign interference in its internal affairs or its judicial processes,” the statement declared.

Highlighting Double Standards and EU Silence on Israeli Crimes

The RND drew attention to what it described as a stark contradiction in the European Parliament’s actions, pointing out its prolonged silence regarding atrocities committed by the Zionist occupation in Gaza. The statement highlighted that, for over a year, the European Parliament failed to respond to the massacres in Gaza, despite weekly protests by millions of Europeans condemning human rights violations and war crimes.

“This silence underscores the double standards with which European institutions approach issues concerning Algeria,” the RND asserted. The party noted that such contradictions expose the EU’s selective approach, particularly in cases that serve political agendas aimed at pressuring Algeria.

A Call for Respect and Sovereignty

The National Democratic Rally concluded its statement with a call for the European Parliament to respect Algeria’s sovereignty and judicial decisions. The party urged the EU to refrain from succumbing to political agendas that mislead European public opinion and create unnecessary tensions.

“Algeria is fully capable of safeguarding the rights of its citizens and ensuring justice without any external interference,” the RND affirmed. It further warned that such attempts to meddle in Algeria’s internal affairs would only strengthen the nation’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and uphold its independence on the global stage.
