ALGIERS- The National Bureau of the National Democratic Rally (RND) convened in an extraordinary meeting on Monday, March 25, 2024, under the leadership of Mr. Mustapha Yahia, the Secretary-General of the party. Attended by heads of the party’s parliamentary groups from both the Council of the Nation and the People’s National Assembly, the meeting aimed to address recent political developments following President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s announcement of presidential elections on September 7, 2024.
Following extensive discussions and a presentation by the Secretary-General, the RND issued the following statements:
1. Welcome for Presidential Election Decision: The RND welcomes President Tebboune’s decision to call for early presidential elections, recognizing it as a constitutional prerogative.
2. Satisfaction with Institutional Commitment: The party expresses satisfaction with state institutions, led by President Tebboune, for their commitment to strengthening the republican and democratic nature of the Algerian state, emphasizing the importance of returning pivotal issues to the sovereign people.
3. Emphasis on Sovereignty and Stability: The RND emphasizes the significance of President Tebboune’s decision, highlighting its reflection of Algerian sovereignty and institutional stability, underlining adherence to the constitution and the sovereign will of the people.
4. Recognition of Strategic Orientations: Commending the country’s strategic orientations of the past four years, the RND acknowledges the sincerity of political will and correctness of economic visions, stressing the need for Algeria to continue its development and reform journey.
5. Commitment to Electoral Success: The RND commits to actively participating in the upcoming presidential elections by mobilizing its elected representatives, executives, and activists nationwide and abroad, aiming to make the elections a milestone in affirming Algeria’s development path and international status.
6. Call for Unity and Strength: The party calls on all citizens, political entities, and civil society to unite and strengthen the internal front, confronting challenges to preserve Algeria’s security, stability, and prosperity.
