ALGIERS, August 18, 2023– In a poignant tribute to the unwavering spirit and sacrifice of Algeria’s heroes, the National Gendarmerie marked the upcoming National Mujahid Day with a moving ceremony that saw the baptism of significant military structures. August 20 holds deep historical significance for Algeria, commemorating both the North Constantine Offensive and the Soummam Congress of 1955 and 1956. The ceremony, held on August 17, was attended by regional dignitaries, military officials, and the families of martyrs Ahmed Zidane and Chahid Boualem Bourada, whose memory was immortalized through this symbolic gesture.
The commemoration was led by the Regional Commander of the National Gendarmerie of Blida, situated in the 1st military region. This solemn occasion witnessed the christening of the Regional Road Safety Company of the National Gendarmerie of Algiers, bearing the name of Martyr hero of the Revolution, Ahmed Zidane. Additionally, the Regional Road Safety Company was baptized in honor of Chahid Boualem Bourada. These names are not just symbolic; they represent the undying legacy of individuals who devoted their lives to Algeria’s freedom struggle.
The ceremonies were marked by a profound sense of unity and remembrance.
