National Organization of Martyrs' Children Urges President Tebboune to Seek Second Term

Algiers, Algeria | July 9th, 2024 — The National Organization of Martyrs’ Children (ONEC) has urged President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to run for a second term in the presidential elections scheduled for September 7th.

This announcement was made during the organization’s national council meeting on Tuesday in Algiers, attended by several high-profile figures including the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laïd Rebiga; the President of the National Observatory of Civil Society (ONSC), Noureddine Benbraham; the Secretary General of the National Organization of Mujahideen’s Children (ONEM), Khalfa M’barek; the head of the National Union of Algerian Women (UNFA), Nouria Hafsi; as well as representatives of UGCAA and other Mujahideen.

Commitment to Building a New Algeria

“This sincere call is a pledge of loyalty to the President, who has made commitments to the people and has fulfilled them. That is why we call on him today to continue the process of building the New Algeria that the people aspire to,” stated Khelifa Smati, the Secretary General of ONEC. He emphasized the importance of remaining true to the ideals of the martyrs and expressed deep gratitude to President Tebboune for his unwavering commitment to preserving the collective memory.

Honoring the Legacy of the Martyrs

In his speech, Laïd Rebiga reiterated the importance of honoring the oath of the martyrs and the Mujahideen to build and preserve the nation’s unity. He highlighted that safeguarding the martyrs’ oath, historical memory, and the values of the glorious November 1st Revolution remain a priority for the President. “The security, peace, and economic development of our country in the era of the new Algeria are the work of our valiant people, their visionary leaders, and the National People’s Army,” Rebiga concluded.
