National Organization of Mujahideen Reaffirms Support for Independent Presidential Candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune

Algiers, Algeria | August 14th, 2024 — The National Organization of Mujahideen (ONM) has reiterated its endorsement of independent presidential candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the upcoming election slated for September 7, 2024. This reaffirmation of support, articulated in a communiqué following a recent meeting in Algiers, underscores the organization’s commitment to national stability and the reinforcement of state institutions.

In the statement released after a review meeting involving members of the ONM’s National Secretariat and regional office Secretaries, the organization emphasized key priorities for the nation. These include continuing state services, building robust institutions, maintaining national unity, ensuring decent living conditions for citizens, and establishing social justice. The ONM’s endorsement of Tebboune is presented as a reflection of these priorities and the necessity for effective leadership during Algeria’s forthcoming phase of development.

The ONM has called upon the Algerian public to actively participate in the election to secure a decisive outcome and counter any potential threats to the country. The organization praised ongoing efforts to build a resilient state supported by loyal citizens dedicated to national security and stability.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Laïd Rebiga, Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, reiterated his ministry’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the Mujahideen and their families. He emphasized the state’s continuous efforts to support this vital group, which played an instrumental role in Algeria’s liberation war alongside the Martyrs.

The meeting also included a review of the national secretariat’s action program and addressed various concerns raised by the members. Additionally, Laïd Rebiga recognized national and regional ONM Secretaries for their efforts in upholding the legacy of the Martyrs.
