Political Leader Highlights Concerns Over Moroccan Interference in Football Matches

ALGIERS- The president of the National Rif Party has issued a call to the Moroccan populace and residents of the occupied Rif region, urging them to remain vigilant regarding the maneuvers of the Moroccan government and its deceptive strategies. This appeal follows recent developments surrounding matches involving the Algerian club Union Sportive Médina d’Alger and the Moroccan club Renaissance Sportive de Berkane, which the party attributes to Morocco, denouncing them as well-known manipulations.
Youba al-Ghadioui, leader of the National Rif Party, has underscored that the Moroccan government is seeking to assert control over disputed territories by leveraging football matches as a means to bolster its territorial claims. He juxtaposed this with the historical reality that the borders of liberated nations are established through the sacrifices of martyrs. Al-Ghadioui stressed the importance for Rif inhabitants to resist the occupier’s efforts to sow division and discord among the populace.
In his address, Youba al-Ghadioui called upon the people of the Rif region to remain resolute in the face of attempts by the occupying force to fragment the region’s population. He emphasized that while football should serve as a unifying force, the Moroccan government is exploiting it as a tool to advance its political objectives.
