Francisco Reynés, Executive Chairman of Naturgy, emphasized the importance of the agreement, stating, “The successful conclusion of this negotiation underscores our ability to navigate competitive markets and reinforces our longstanding, reliable partnership with Sonatrach, ensuring a steady supply to the Iberian Peninsula.” This deal solidifies Naturgy’s position in securing a consistent natural gas supply, crucial for meeting the energy needs of Spain and Portugal.
Contract Details and Market Alignment
The agreement, which was publicly disclosed on Tuesday, features pricing terms tailored to current market conditions, reflecting both companies’ commitment to maintaining fair and adaptable business practices. Naturgy, which has been negotiating with Sonatrach for both retroactive 2023 supply and the 2024 term, has successfully secured a substantial volume of natural gas. The contract outlines an annual procurement of approximately 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, ensuring a reliable energy source for the Iberian Peninsula.
