NEC: presentation of the results of the survey on the impact of Covid-19 on SMEs in Algeria

The Office for North Africa under the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (NEC) presented, on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry, the results of its investigation into the impact of the Covid-19 on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Algeria, a statement from the ministry said.

This study, which included 1,000 SMEs activating in different fields during the period from March to June 2021, noted the difficulties, in particular financial, encountered by these companies during the pandemic, particularly in the service sector, the statement said.

As part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and the office, this study also focused on the means and tools to promote this category of companies through support for innovative projects and Training.

On the sidelines of the presentation of this study, a working meeting was organized between the officials of the ministry and the president of the office for North Africa of the NEC, Zuzana Schwidrowski.

During this meeting, the two parties discussed the industrial development strategy in Algeria, the SME development strategy and the means of strengthening bilateral cooperation with regard to the green economy, the statement concluded.
