Algiers- Algeria, May 13, 2024 – The New Algeria initiative has made significant progress in a short period in terms of efforts to uphold citizen dignity, establish social justice, achieve balanced development across all regions, and promote Algeria’s interests globally. The recent broadcast of the third episode of the documentary “New Algeria… Vision and Achievements” on Algerian Television, produced by the Information and Communication Directorate of the People’s National Army (ANP), outlined key achievements and President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s commitments, aligning with Algeria’s social principles outlined in the Declaration of November 1, 1954.
The program for developing underserved areas, launched in 2021, has been pivotal. It involves several vital projects across various sectors aimed at boosting development in isolated areas while respecting citizen dignity and ensuring a decent quality of life. Notable projects in Khenchela province, part of a special complementary development program initiated by the President, include the implementation of infrastructure like a new railway line connecting the province to the national network and a road duplication project, transforming the province into an economic axis linking the north and south. Additionally, various housing projects have been completed.
In Tamanrasset province, the completion of the fiber optic line along the RN1, part of the trans-Saharan backbone, will connect remote regions to the internet, benefiting neighboring African countries in the future. The housing sector has seen remarkable revival, with over 1.25 million housing units delivered since 2020, according to Mohamed Mordjani, Director-General of Housing at the Ministry of Housing, Urbanism, and the City. These units, provided as homogeneous urban units with necessary facilities, have significantly improved living conditions.
Regarding housing initiatives, Fouad Mokrani, Director-General of AADL, reported that over 400,000 housing units have been delivered within the “AADL 2” program’s final phase. Plans for the “AADL 3” project are underway, aiming to start before the first semester’s end. In the education sector, significant milestones have been achieved, including providing basic infrastructure and creating new specialties aligned with the job market’s demands. Tamanrasset University’s focus on the knowledge economy has led to innovative projects contributing to national economic development.
Economic expert Mahfoud Kaoubi emphasized Algeria’s focus on prioritizing intelligence and talent development, leading to an increase in startups. The media sector has progressed notably with new legislative frameworks and initiatives like the “Dzair Media City” project. The state has also addressed concerns of the Algerian community abroad, ensuring access to social security services and simplifying fund transfers. Algerian diplomacy has been active, reaffirming Algeria’s role as a regional power and contributing to international security and peace.
Overall, Algeria’s achievements under the New Algeria initiative reflect its commitment to national development, citizen welfare, and global prominence.
