ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received credentials from four new ambassadors on Monday, and each ambassador expressed their views on the future of their countries’ relations with Algeria.
Finland-Algeria: “A Common Goal of World Peace”
Mr. Pekka Hyvonen, the new ambassador of Finland to Algeria, emphasized his country’s willingness to enhance economic and trade relations with Algeria through joint projects. He stated, “We wish to promote economic and trade cooperation with Algeria through the implementation of common projects,” advocating for strengthened collaboration in various fields, including renewable energy. Hyvonen highlighted that Algeria and Finland “share the same concern for peace in the world.”
Congo Aims to Benefit from Algeria’s Expertise in the Oil Industry
Ambassador Ignace Ngakala of Congo expressed his country’s desire to benefit from Algeria’s experience in the oil industry. He noted that “Algeria conducted the first audit on the oil industry in Congo,” and praised Algeria’s existing model of the oil industry upstream and downstream. Ngakala mentioned that Congo is set to begin gas production by the end of the year and emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between the two countries in this sector. Additionally, he acknowledged Algeria’s success in eradicating terrorism and expressed Congo’s interest in leveraging Algeria’s experience in counter-terrorism efforts, especially given the ongoing challenges in the Sahel and Lake Chad region.
Tanzania Prioritizes Implementation of Memorandum of Understanding
Ambassador Iman Salom Ngalikai of Tanzania highlighted the importance of developing Algerian-Tanzanian relations, focusing on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding and the agreement on hydrocarbons signed last August with Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).
Mauritania Proud of Relations with Algeria
Ambassador Sidi Mohamed Mohamed Abdallah of Mauritania expressed his country’s pride in maintaining fraternal relations with Algeria and expressed the willingness to strengthen and expand them in all areas. He emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts to build fruitful economic cooperation and increase trade, aligning with the elevated level of political relations between the two countries and presidents. Abdallah also discussed ongoing development projects, including the strategic Tindouf-Zouerate road and recently completed border crossing, facilitating the movement of goods and people and providing Algerian business operators access to African markets.
