ALGIERS- Former president of the APC of Algiers-downtown, the engineer in urban planning, and until then, Secretary General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), Tayeb Zitouni, is the new Minister of Trade and Export Promotion in replacement of Kamel Rezig following the partial ministerial reshuffle carried out this Thursday, by the President of the Republic, Mr; Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
According to La Patrie News, Tayeb Zitouni is known to have been in the administration for years.
Born in 1965, he has been a member of the National Democratic Rally (RND) since its creation. From 1997 to 2012, he held the post of mayor of Algiers-downtown.
A few years earlier, in 1992, he held the position of deputy mayor at the Communal Executive Delegation (DEC) of the commune of Oued Koriche, in Algiers.
Created by presidential decree in March 1992, the DECs replaced the municipal assemblies resulting from the June 1990 elections.
During his mandate at the DEC of Oued Koriche, Zitouni escaped a terrorist attack. He retains sequelae in the lower limbs.
Still in the administration, Tayeb Zitouni had also been director of the Algerian Society of Fairs and Exports (Safex) in 2015.
Since July 2019, he has succeeded Azzedine Mihoubi, who was in charge of the Acting leadership of the RND. On May 28, 2020, he was elected Secretary General of the party at the sixth extraordinary congress.
Noting that the President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, conducted, Thursday, a partial cabinet reshuffle, said the spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, Samir Aggoune.
