Algiers- Algeria, May 8, 2024 – In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) disclosed the operational report of the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) for the period spanning from May 1st to May 7th.
The MDN announced the successful elimination of a terrorist known as D. Omar during an operation conducted by the People’s National Army in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, which also resulted in the recovery of an automatic pistol and ammunition.
Continuing the counterterrorism efforts, ANP units accomplished the arrest of 21 individuals suspected of providing support to terrorist groups during the same period. Additionally, they uncovered 07 hideouts used by terrorists and confiscated 09 homemade bombs in the province of Boumerdès.
Moreover, ANP forces apprehended 27 drug traffickers and intercepted attempts to smuggle in 182 kilograms of processed cannabis at border areas with Morocco.
These operations, carried out in collaboration with various security services, also led to the seizure of 117 grams of cocaine and 36,526 psychotropic tablets, as emphasized by the same source.
