ALGIERS- The delegation of the National Institute of Political and Strategic Studies of Nigeria (NIPSS), visiting Algeria from May 14 to 21, paid a visit on Monday to the National Institute for Global Strategy Studies (INESG), during which the opportunities for bilateral cooperation, especially in energy, renewable energy, industry, the pharmaceutical industry, and the environment, were highlighted by the executives of the two countries.
In this context, the Director General of INESG, Abdelaziz Medjahed, has highlighted the potential for Algerian-Nigerian cooperation in the fields of energy and the pharmaceutical industry in particular, affirming that Algeria “has solid experience and skills” in this area.
He also indicated that the Algerian side was very interested in knowing the Nigerian experience in economic sectors that could constitute cooperation projects.
“Nigeria can supply Europe with energy via Algeria’s network. This proposal is based on the fact that Algeria is currently serving as the primary energy artery for Europe,” reiterated Abdelaziz Medjahed.
According to Mr. Medjahed, Algeria, Nigeria, and other African countries are essential elements in the future of relations with energy-consuming countries. “The trans-Saharan gas pipeline, which extends from Nigeria to Algeria, will bring many benefits to both countries.”
To elaborate, Nigeria has the potential to become a significant energy supplier for Europe. By leveraging Algeria’s existing infrastructure, Nigeria could tap into the European market and provide a reliable source of energy. This would not only benefit Nigeria’s economy but also contribute to Europe’s energy security.
Furthermore, Algeria’s role as the energy artery of Europe highlights the importance of its energy sector. The country has been a key player in the global energy market for decades, and its strategic location makes it an ideal hub for energy transportation. As such, Algeria’s energy network is a critical component of Europe’s energy supply chain.
