Official birth of Western Sahara football team

ALGIERS- The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) ambassador in Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, has announced the official birth of the Sahrawi football team. The announcement was made during the festivities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Polisario Front and the outbreak of the armed struggle.

The Sahrawi diplomat stated that the birth of the national football team will open a new stage for Sahrawi sport, particularly football, and take it all over the world. This new stage will mark the way for Sahrawi sport in general and football in particular within international competitions.

Mr. Taleb Omar underlined that the SADR has the right to be a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and participate in different continental and international competitions like other member countries. The Sahrawi football team has arrived in Algiers to play a historic match against Mouloudia of Algiers, the dean of Algerian clubs, on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Baraki.
