Oil and Lubricant Production: Sonatrach’s Two Subsidiaries to Establish a Factory in Mostaganem

Algiers, Algeria | September 30th, 2024 — Two subsidiaries of the Sonatrach group are embarking on a significant initiative to establish a production facility for oils and lubricants in the industrial zone of Sayada, located in the Mostaganem province. This project is designed to enhance Algeria’s capacity in the oil and lubricant sector while aligning with the nation’s strategic development goals.
On Sunday, September 29, 2024, an agreement was formalized in Arzew, Oran province, between the National Company for the Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum Products (Naftal) and Somiz Spa, a company specializing in industrial maintenance. The signing ceremony brought together key figures, including Naftal’s CEO Djamel Cherdoud, Somiz Spa’s CEO Yazid Kamoum, and Brahim Akroum, General Director of Sonatrach’s holding company, alongside other senior executives from both organizations.
Cherdoud characterized the agreement as “historic,” emphasizing that the establishment of this production unit aligns seamlessly with Naftal’s development strategy. He noted that this project would not only reinforce Naftal’s market position but also solidify the trust it has earned from its clients over the years.
Kamoum expressed his appreciation to Naftal for the confidence shown in Somiz for the execution of this project, assuring stakeholders that his company would allocate the necessary resources to meet the defined objectives and deadlines.
Akroum highlighted the project’s significance in promoting cooperation among Sonatrach’s subsidiaries. He explained that the collaboration aims to reduce production costs, improve delivery timelines, and optimize resources while maintaining strict adherence to quality, timing, and cost standards.
This initiative marks a pivotal advancement in Algeria’s industrial landscape and underscores a broader commitment to enhancing the country’s oil and lubricant production capabilities, ultimately contributing to economic growth and sustainability.
