ALGIERS- Ooredoo reaffirmed its role as a responsible corporate citizen by renewing its partnership with the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) on Monday, March 11, 2024, in a ceremony held at Ooredoo’s headquarters in Ouled Fayet.

The renewal of the partnership agreement was ratified jointly by Dr. Ibtissem Hamlaoui, President of the Algerian Red Crescent, and Roni Tohme, CEO of Ooredoo Algeria, in the presence of top management from both organizations and representatives of the Algerian Red Crescent. According to a statement from the mobile operator, the agreement includes the implementation of a joint humanitarian action program to support the needy segments of society.

This partnership underscores Ooredoo’s commitment as a socially responsible company to further support the Algerian Red Crescent’s efforts in its noble missions for Algerian society. It aims to realize several humanitarian and charitable projects benefiting various segments of society and establish a program of joint actions within the framework of national solidarity.

For the month of Ramadan, Ooredoo has launched an offer whereby it pledges to donate 20 Algerian Dinars, contributed by the company, to the Algerian Red Crescent for every top-up transaction equal to or exceeding 2000 Algerian Dinars. This initiative aims to support solidarity actions for those in need, with customers still benefiting from the full advantages of the recharging formula.

Under this partnership agreement, Ooredoo commits to supporting the Algerian Red Crescent in other solidarity actions, including assistance for schoolchildren from needy families in remote areas, aid in the event of natural disasters, the implementation of a project for autistic children, and the realization of a first aid training program.

Dr. Ibtissem Hamlaoui, President of the Algerian Red Crescent, expressed gratitude for the partnership renewal, citing Ooredoo as a faithful partner in numerous solidarity initiatives over the past 15 years. She expressed confidence in further translating this partnership into tangible actions to assist the most vulnerable segments of society.

“We are deeply honored by the renewal of this partnership with Ooredoo, which represents a steadfast ally for us. This agreement is a natural continuation of the various solidarity initiatives already realized in collaboration with Ooredoo over more than 15 years of fruitful partnership, including the implementation of several national solidarity projects benefiting vulnerable segments of society. We express our gratitude to Ooredoo for their demonstrated trust in CRA, and we look forward to translating this partnership into action on the ground, with the aim of assisting the most disadvantaged segments of society,” stated Dr. Ibtissem Hamlaoui, President of CRA, on this occasion.

Roni Tohme, CEO of Ooredoo, emphasized that the renewal of the partnership demonstrates their joint commitment to engage more actively in solidarity and charitable actions within society. He reiterated Ooredoo’s dedication as a socially responsible company to support the Algerian Red Crescent in implementing a program of solidarity and general interest for the needy segments of Algerian society.

The partnership between Ooredoo and the Algerian Red Crescent began in 2008 and has seen the realization of several charitable and solidarity actions for Algerian society. These include the donation of three mobile clinics for residents of remote regions to improve healthcare access, the opening of Ooredoo canteens for fasting individuals throughout Ramadan, the distribution of food baskets and Iftar packs to fasting individuals and needy families across multiple provinces, and various initiatives supporting education and healthcare, including aiding COVID-19 prevention efforts and assisting victims of forest fires.

As a corporate citizen, Ooredoo remains committed to promoting and valuing solidarity and mutual aid actions, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to initiatives of general interest within Algerian society.
