“Oran Process Plays Pivotal Role in Strengthening African Unity,” Says Foreign Minister Attaf

ALGIERS- In his closing remarks at the 10th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf emphasized the pivotal role of the Oran Process in fortifying the unity of African nations.
Attaf highlighted that the Oran Process has demonstrated its significance and effectiveness by uniting the continent, empowering it to assert sovereign positions and decisions that influence international resolutions, particularly those related to establishing peace and security across its diverse regions.
The outcomes of the discussions at this gathering, according to Attaf, will “consolidate the achievements and advancements, strengthen the African bloc at the UN Security Council, and enhance levels of coordination and cooperation in service of our continent’s goals and priorities.”
Attaf asserted that “the group of African members at the Security Council has become one of the most significant and cohesive political blocs, showcasing strong solidarity.”
While underscoring that the Oran Process aims to align collective efforts with specific objectives to respond effectively to the security and political challenges of the continent, Attaf highlighted the seriousness with which the seminar addressed the spread of terrorism and organized crime, exerting immense pressure on the foundations of peace, security, development, and prosperity in Africa.
Closing the tenth session of the Oran Process, Attaf expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes, stating, “Algeria is fully prepared to assume the mandate entrusted to it at the Security Council, committed to coordination, cooperation, and solidarity with its African brethren.”
He concluded, “In light of these significant and constructive results, Algeria is now fully prepared to assume the mandate entrusted to it at the Security Council, fully engaged in coordination, cooperation, and solidarity with its African brothers, and firmly committed to the path laid out by the Oran Process, faithful to the face of Africa and firmly rooted in African values and principles, unique in its goals and objectives.”
