Oued Amizour Zinc Mine: Minister Arkab Meets with CEO of Australian Company “Terramin”

ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, held a meeting on Tuesday with Mr. Vang Shang, the CEO of the Australian Mining Company “Terramin,” as announced by the ministry in a statement.
The purpose of this meeting was to review the progress of the zinc and lead mine project in Tala Hamza, Oued Amizour, where both parties acknowledged the successful outcomes of cooperation between the Sonarem Group and Terramin in this venture.
Discussions also focused on strategies to further strengthen this cooperation and explore opportunities for additional mining projects in Algeria in the future.
During the meeting, Minister Arkab emphasized the economic significance of this project, which is part of the broader effort to develop the mining sector and stimulate mining activities.
He underscored the various positive impacts anticipated from the implementation of this project, including its contribution to the national economy and the economic development of the region, particularly in terms of advancing the zinc processing industry.
Furthermore, Minister Arkab explained that the zinc extracted from the Oued Amizour mine will undergo processing in the same wilaya of Bejaia. The site for the factory project, located in the industrial zone of Ksar-Fnaya Mathen, has been selected for this purpose.
Additionally, Minister Arkab inspected the project to develop the quay of the port of Bejaia, which is related to this project and has achieved a completion rate of 62%.
