Palestinian Ambassador Lauds Algeria’s Ongoing Support for the Palestinian Cause

Algiers, Algeria | November 13th, 2024 — The Palestinian Ambassador to Algeria, Fayez Abu Aita, expressed deep appreciation for Algeria’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, particularly under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. His remarks came during a meeting with Mustapha Yahi, the Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), in commemoration of the anniversary of the declaration of the establishment of the State of Palestine.

Abu Aita emphasized that the Palestinian people draw immense strength from Algeria’s continued support on multiple fronts. He particularly highlighted Algeria’s political, material, and moral backing, which has been pivotal in maintaining the momentum of the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and justice.

The Ambassador also lauded Algeria’s diplomatic efforts in international forums, especially at the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly. He noted that Algeria has been instrumental in advancing initiatives aimed at halting the ongoing genocidal actions against the Palestinian people. Despite the challenges posed by the United States’ veto power, which has blocked several of Algeria’s proposed resolutions at the Security Council, the country remains steadfast in its advocacy for Palestinian rights.

In addition, Abu Aita commended the outcomes of the Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, particularly praising the message sent by President Tebboune to the summit participants. The message reaffirmed Algeria’s firm stance on Palestine, calling for an end to the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian population. He also noted that the summit mandated Algeria to advocate for full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.

Algeria’s role in championing the Palestinian cause, both regionally and internationally, continues to be a central element of its foreign policy, with continued efforts to ensure that the Palestinian struggle remains a priority on the global stage.
