Police: Algeria, Netherlands pay heed to expansion of ties

ALGIERS –The Director General of the National Security, Farid Bencheikh, was received, last Thursday, by his Dutch counterpart, Henk Van Essen. Both sides tackled means of strengthening bilateral cooperation, indicated, Saturday, a press release from the General Directorate of the National Security (DGSN).

 

Mr. Bencheikh’s visit, which took place at the invitation of his Dutch counterpart, Henk Van Essen, allowed both parties to discuss “the means of strengthening bilateral cooperation in all areas and the exchange of experiences between the police of the two countries”, the statement pointed out, adding that the meeting was held in the presence of central directors from the DGSN and their counterparts from the Dutch police.

On this occasion, the Algerian delegation visited the headquarters of certain operational services of the Dutch police and received explanations on the organization and functioning of these services, further explained the communiqué.

 

The Algerian delegation also “discussed Algeria’s experience in areas relating to the fight against organized crime and the preservation of public order, in particular the management and securing of important events,” according to the same source.

It should be noted that this visit follows that carried out by the DGSN to the headquarters of Interpol in France at the invitation of the SG of the organization, Jürgen Stock.

The Director General (DG) of National Security, Mr. Farid Bencheikh, took part, on Wednesday, in a working meeting at the Interpol organization, on operational and technical police collaboration, as indicated, on Wednesday, by a press release from the General Directorate of the National Security (DGSN).

“At the invitation of the Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), Mr. Jurgen Stock, the DG of the National Security, Mr. Farid Bencheikh, took part, on Wednesday January 25, 2023, in a working meeting on the ways and means of consolidating the mechanisms of operational and technical police collaboration in various fields, particularly with regard to the fight against cybercrime, organized crime and drug crimes”, read the press release.
