Polisario Front’s Galicia Representation Organizes Powerful Demonstration in Solidarity with Sahrawi Struggle for Freedom and Independence

Galicia, Spain, August 23, 2023– A resounding call for justice echoed through the streets of Galicia, as the Polisario Front representation in the province, joined by the Spanish Solidarity Movement, orchestrated a massive demonstration to express unwavering solidarity with the Sahrawi people’s righteous fight for freedom and independence.
Amidst an enthusiastic assembly of diverse political affiliations, parliamentary factions, and civil society organizations, the demonstration vividly underscored the immense backing that the Sahrawi cause commands within the Galician community.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mohamed El Mahdi Zarqa, the representative of the Polisario Front in the region, lauded the impressive participation of various political parties and formations within the parliament, deeming it a resolute testament to the resounding support for the Sahrawi people and their just cause.
In his impassioned speech, the Saharawi diplomat underscored the fifty-year commemoration of the Polisario Front’s founding and emphasized Spain’s historical and legal responsibility in decolonizing Western Sahara. He noted that the Sahrawi people continue to await the fulfillment of Spain’s obligations towards enabling their right to self-determination and securing their rightful independence.
The demonstrators stood united in their unanimous agreement on the imperative to escalate support for the Sahrawi people. Furthermore, they advocated for concerted efforts aimed at alleviating the Sahrawi people’s hardships, by exerting significant pressure on the Moroccan occupation to adhere to international legitimacy.
