ALGIERS- Recent reports surrounding the postponement of Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares’ visit to Algeria have ignited speculation and scrutiny. While coverage from various media outlets, both Spanish and Arabic, has been extensive, leaked information from Spanish diplomatic sources has raised questions about the accuracy of the narrative, which seemed to favor certain media channels in Spain.

Contrary to the narrative that solely blames Algeria for the postponement due to scheduling conflicts, the reality is more nuanced. Algeria’s agenda did not cause the delay; rather, it was a result of mutual difficulties in finalizing the visit’s arrangements, stemming from miscommunication between the two countries.

An informed source speaking to “Algerie Maintenant” shed light on the reasons behind the delay, explaining that ongoing efforts to prepare for Albares’ visit failed to produce satisfactory results for both parties, making it unfeasible to schedule the visit for the intended date.

This source also confirmed to the Algerian news outlet that there was coordination between Algerian and Spanish authorities in the preparatory process. An official Spanish delegation traveled from Madrid to Algeria specifically to finalize the necessary steps for the visit.

Emphasizing the importance of clear and transparent communication channels between the two nations, the source highlighted that the absence of an official announcement regarding Albares’ visit was due to ongoing preparations.
