ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, conducted several bilateral meetings on Wednesday with his counterparts on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting for the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
According to a statement from the ministry, Attaf had an extensive meeting with his Ugandan counterpart, Haji Abubaker Odongo, during which he congratulated the country for presiding over the NAM on the occasion of this summit. He discussed the qualitative development of relations between Algeria and Uganda and explored ways to strengthen this positive momentum.
The discussions between Mr. Attaf and his Chadian counterpart, Saleh Annadif, and the Libyan counterpart, Taher Al-Baour, aimed at deepening consultations and coordination on topics listed on the agenda of the ministerial meeting, the document stated.
Ahmed Attaf also held private meetings with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilani, Angola, Tété Antonio, and Sri Lanka, Ali Sarby, according to the same source.
“The meetings provided an opportunity to review the state of relations between Algeria and these friendly countries, in addition to examining international and regional issues of common interest,” the document concluded.
