Algiers, Algeria | October 27th, 2024 — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was formally welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday at Cairo’s Al-Ittihadiya Presidential Palace. This visit underscores Algeria’s commitment to reinforcing fraternal relations and expanding strategic cooperation with Egypt and Oman, emphasizing Algeria’s role in regional stability and diplomatic collaboration.
Upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport, President Tebboune was greeted by President al-Sisi in a display of high honors, reflecting the importance of this diplomatic exchange between two pivotal countries in the Arab world. The Algerian delegation, following a formal salute from the Egyptian Republican Guard, proceeded to engage in initial discussions aimed at furthering bilateral cooperation, regional security initiatives, and economic partnerships.
President Tebboune’s departure from Algiers on Sunday morning was marked by a ceremonial send-off at Houari Boumediene International Airport, where he reviewed an honor guard and listened to the national anthem. Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army General Said Chanegriha, and the Director of the Presidential Cabinet Boualem Boualem were in attendance, underscoring the significance Algeria places on this diplomatic mission.
The official statement from the Algerian Presidency emphasized the purpose of President Tebboune’s visit as twofold: a working and fraternal visit to Egypt, followed by a state visit to Oman. “President Abdelmadjid Tebboune embarks on an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as a state visit to the Sultanate of Oman, to enhance the bonds of brotherhood, cooperation, and consultation,” the statement read. Both stops signify Algeria’s proactive approach in fortifying diplomatic alliances and promoting mutual interests with key regional partners.
This visit comes at a critical time for Algeria and Egypt, both of which share common goals regarding regional peace, the consolidation of security in North Africa and the Middle East, and cooperative development projects that align with national priorities.
