President Abdelmadjid Tebboune Hosts RND Delegation, Affirming Commitment to National Sovereignty

Algiers, Algeria | January 07th, 2024 — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received a delegation from the National Democratic Rally (RND) on Tuesday, led by its Secretary-General, Mr. Mustapha Yahi. The meeting was attended by the Director of Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Boualem Boualem, and the President’s Communications Advisor, Mr. Kamel Sidi Saïd.

“For a Strong and Sovereign Algeria”

Following the meeting, Mr. Yahi expressed his confidence in President Tebboune’s genuine commitment to building a strong and sovereign Algeria. He emphasized, “We are witnessing desperate attempts to interfere with our constitutional institutions, particularly the judiciary.”

The RND Secretary-General highlighted that the meeting involved a comprehensive discussion on key national issues, including the revision of political party laws, the electoral system, and the proposed municipal and wilaya codes. The national dialogue initiative was also addressed. Mr. Yahi reaffirmed the RND’s position against early elections, stating, “One of our key demands is to complete the mandates of both local and national assemblies without calling for early elections.”
