ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of the Republic of Algeria took the helm at the opening ceremony of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit, held at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC) this Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, President Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s call for the development of cooperation and partnerships among gas-producing nations within the framework of the GECF. He also welcomed the recent memberships of Mauritania, Senegal, and Mozambique into the organization, signaling a broader scope for collaboration.
Tebboune emphasized that the 7th summit presented a crucial opportunity to safeguard the interests of both gas-producing and consuming nations. He asserted Algeria’s commitment to realizing the organization’s objectives and underlined its determination to fulfill its role in global energy security, particularly given the pivotal role of gas in sustainable development worldwide.
Furthermore, the Head of State affirmed Algeria’s awareness of the significance of gas not only for national economies but also for the environment. He emphasized gas as a complementary energy source for renewable energy, reaffirming Algeria’s consistent support for utilizing gas as a clean energy alternative.
Continuing his discourse, the summit’s president highlighted the new challenges confronting gas-producing nations, stressing the need for strengthened dialogue and multilateral efforts to achieve the organization’s goals. He underscored the importance of the Algiers summit as a pivotal occasion for deepening cooperation, exchanging experiences, and fostering strategic dialogues among diverse stakeholders in gas markets.
