ALGIERS- Economic operators striving daily to meet the challenges of Algeria’s economic revival have now secured unwavering support from the country’s highest state authority. During his visit to the entrepreneurship exhibition on Thursday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting economic operators and investment project initiators, the creators of wealth and employment in the country.
Addressing representatives from public and private enterprises across various sectors, along with young project initiators and entrepreneurs from the national community abroad, President Tebboune, accompanied by the Prime Minister and the President of CREA, made it clear that he is directly involved in the affairs of the country’s economic operators. He emphasized that the state will exert its full weight to improve the business environment in Algeria.
Ignoring “Attempts to Discourage” is Key
Acknowledging the obstacles faced by investors and economic entrepreneurs, the President aims to make these operators allies of the state in combating various issues hindering the country’s development. Addressing those in the agriculture and agri-food sectors, President Tebboune urged investors and entrepreneurs to forge ahead “without paying attention to attempts to discourage.”
The President was undoubtedly alluding to what he previously termed a “malignant tumor known as bureaucracy” during a cabinet meeting in February, stating that “other therapies are necessary” to overcome this issue. He had criticized the government’s handling of numerous files, citing flexible deadlines, approximate figures, and decisions that disrupted the daily lives of citizens and economic operators.
Recent changes, including those at the government’s helm and in decision-making centers of various public institutions, organizations, and groups, were prompted by this misunderstanding of the state’s policies. President Tebboune seeks to dispel the ambiguity that has long surrounded the state’s commitment to supporting economic operators, approaching these key players in the economic revival to instill confidence.
He reiterated the government’s dedication to “encouraging the productive sector” and assured that the state is working towards expanding incentive measures for investors and entrepreneurs. The goal is to reduce bureaucratic obstacles and propel businesses out of their inertia.
The President commended the potential of young Algerians, particularly those with innovative projects, emphasizing that they are more than just a source of pride for the country. He noted that they are part of the “aspired Algeria” and that initiatives of this kind are “under the high protection of the state.”
Additionally, addressing economic operators from the national community abroad, President Tebboune emphasized that they remain “an integral part” of what happens in the country. “We have ignored them for a long time (Algerian nationals abroad), now they must feel that they are an integral part of the homeland,” he underscored.
