ALGIERS- In a ceremony held on Tuesday evening, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, presented the trophy for the 51st edition of the Military Football Cup.
The President handed over the prestigious trophy to the captain of the 1st Military Region team, which emerged victorious in the final against the Ground Forces team. The match ended in a draw (0-0), leading to a thrilling penalty shootout that concluded with a 5-4 victory for the 1st Military Region team. The match took place at the “Chahid Messaoud Boudjeriou” Center for the Gathering and Preparation of Military Sports Teams (CREPESM) in Ben Aknoun, Algiers.
President Tebboune was welcomed to the official tribune of the CREPESM stadium by General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), and Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui.
As part of the event, the President attended a comprehensive presentation on military sports at the sports complex’s VIP lounge. The briefing, delivered by the General in charge of Employment-Preparation at the ANP General Staff, covered various aspects of military sports.
During the ceremony, attendees also viewed a short film showcasing the achievements of military athletes and the results of the sports season. The President took the opportunity to commend the dedication and accomplishments of the military sports community.
