Algiers, March 24, 2024 – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over a cabinet meeting on Sunday, addressing various pressing matters and issuing several directives aimed at advancing the nation’s development agenda.
Advancing Digitalization Efforts
During the meeting, President Tebboune reviewed the periodic report presented by the High Commission for Digitalization, acknowledging significant progress in interconnectivity rates among various public entities and administrations. In response, he instructed the immediate commencement of the construction of the national data center, approving a contract with Chinese company Huawei through direct negotiation due to its urgent nature.
Regional Development Focus
Addressing the implementation of supplementary development programs in the provinces of Khenchela, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, and Tindouf, President Tebboune emphasized the need to strengthen national cohesion through a strategy centered on balanced development. He highlighted the importance of rectifying past regional disparities and ensuring equitable development across all regions, particularly those historically underserved.
In Djelfa, President Tebboune underscored the significance of urban planning to accommodate modern urban expansion. Regarding Tindouf, he commended the Ministry of Health’s efforts in equipping healthcare infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of providing enhanced services to local residents. Additionally, President Tebboune directed an increase in rural housing provision in Tissemsilt from 3,000 to 15,000 units.
Enhancing Power Supply to Industrial Zones
Acknowledging Sonelgaz’s ongoing efforts, President Tebboune stressed the imperative of further improving electricity supply to industrial and commercial zones. He emphasized the pivotal role of reliable electricity supply in supporting the national economy and ensuring food and industrial security.
Commitment to Olympic Preparations
President Tebboune reassured the national sports elite of the government’s unwavering support in preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games. He affirmed the state’s readiness to mobilize all necessary resources, emphasizing equal support for both Olympic and Paralympic athletes in representing the nation on the international stage.
Importance of Agricultural Census
President Tebboune emphasized the significance of the general agricultural census, urging the government to prioritize its implementation. He highlighted the census’s role in providing essential data for informed decision-making and resource allocation in the agricultural sector.
