ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over the extraordinary session of the Algerian Parliament on Monday, bringing together both chambers at the Palace of Nations in Algiers. The session, marked by the recitation of Quranic verses and the national anthem, underscores a pivotal moment in the nation’s legislative agenda.

The proceedings unfolded in the presence of key dignitaries, including Council of Nation Speaker Salah Goudjil, People’s National Assembly (APN) Speaker Brahim Boughali, Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, Constitutional Court President Omar Belhadj, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP) General Saïd Chanegriha, and Acting Presidential Cabinet Director Boualem Boualem. The attendance of high-ranking state officials and government members highlighted the significance of the parliamentary gathering.

The extraordinary session of Parliament was convened in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 23-462 issued on December 19, 2023. The decree mandated the assembly of both chambers of Parliament for a joint session, reflecting a commitment to address crucial national matters.

The gathering is poised to deliberate on key legislative issues, with the President emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative branches. The discussions are expected to touch upon pressing national concerns, charting a course for legislative initiatives that align with Algeria’s developmental goals.
