ALGIERS- The President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, conducted, Thursday, a partial cabinet reshuffle, said the spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, Samir Aggoune.
President Tebboune has, thus, appointed Ahmed Attaf, new Minister of Foreign Affairs to replace Ramtane Lamamra.
Kamel Rezig, Minister of Commerce was dismissed from his post in favor of Tayeb Zitouni.
Abdelaziz Fayed was entrusted with the Ministry of Finance, replacing Ibrahim Djamel Kessali.
The President of the Algerian Olympic Committee (COA) Abderrahmane Hamad has been promoted to the post of Minister of Youth and Sports, replacing Aberrezak Sebkak.
Former CNAS CEO Feyçal Bentaleb succeeded Youcef Cherfa as head of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. The latter was appointed Minister of Transport to replace Kamel Beldjoud.
Faiza Dahleb inherited the Environment and Renewable Energy portfolio from Samia Moualfi.
Hichem Sofiane Salaouatchi cedes his post as Minister of Fisheries to Ahmed Badani.
Hocine Chorahbil is replaced at the head of the Ministry of Digitization and Statistics by Meriem Benmiloud.
President Tebboune has also appointed Abdelaziz Khelef Minister of State Advisor to the President and Mohamed Nadir Larbaoui as Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic.
Two new ministries created
Two new ministries were created thanks to this partial cabinet reshuffle carried out by the President of the Republic, namely; the Ministry of Hydraulics entrusted to Taha Derbal, and the Ministry of Industry and the Pharmaceutical Industry entrusted to Ali Aoun while Ahmed Zaghdar, who held the post of Minister of Industry, was dismissed. It is indeed the merger of the two departments of Industry and Pharmaceutical Industry into a single ministry.
Chorahbil and Rezig called to other functions
The press release from the Presidency of the Republic specified that the Ministers of Digitization and Trade, Hocine Chorabil and Kamel Rezig are called to other functions.
