President Tebboune Honors Martyrs at Algeria’s 61st Independence Day Celebrations

ALGIERS-  As Algeria commemorates its 61st Independence Day, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune paid homage to the nation’s martyrs at the shrine of the martyr (Maqam el-Shahid) on the heights of Algiers. In a solemn ceremony held on Wednesday, President Tebboune laid a wreath of flowers at the commemorative stele and recited the Fatiha.

The event marked a significant milestone in Algeria’s history, celebrating the recovery of national sovereignty from French colonial rule. It served as a moment of remembrance and gratitude for the sacrifices made by countless individuals who fought valiantly for Algeria’s independence.

President Tebboune’s presence at the shrine underscored the government’s commitment to honoring the memory of the martyrs who selflessly gave their lives for the freedom and sovereignty of the Algerian people. The wreath-laying ceremony symbolized the gratitude and respect felt by the nation towards these brave heroes.
