President Tebboune Hosts Cuban Vice Minister of the Armed Forces, Honoring Historical Ties and Paving the Way for Future Cooperation

Algiers, Algeria | November 03rd, 2024 — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, welcomed the Cuban Vice Minister of the Armed Forces, Army Corps General Joaquin Quintas Sola, on Sunday. In a message of solidarity, General Quintas Sola extended his heartfelt greetings to the Algerian people and Armed Forces on the 70th anniversary of the November 1 Revolution, which symbolizes Algeria’s struggle for independence. “I extend my warm and fraternal greetings to the Algerian people and their Armed Forces on this historic occasion. Long live Algeria, and long live Cuba!” he added, highlighting the symbolic ties between the two countries that share a legacy of resilience and sovereignty.

The audience was attended by several high-ranking Algerian officials, including Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, General Said Chanegriha, the Director of the Presidential Cabinet, Mr. Boualem Boualem, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, and Minister of Health, Mr. Abdelhak Saihi. This gathering of key figures from both countries underscores the significance of the Algerian-Cuban relationship, marked by decades of strategic cooperation across defense, healthcare, and energy sectors.

Algeria and Cuba have long collaborated on a range of initiatives, notably in healthcare, where Cuban medical expertise has contributed to Algeria’s development.
