Algiers, Algeria | July 10th, 2024 — On Wednesday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune embarked on a working and inspection visit to the wilaya of Tizi-Ouzou, during which he inaugurated several pivotal development projects. The centerpiece of his visit was the formal opening of the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium in Boukhalfa, situated at the western entrance of Tizi-Ouzou, as reported by the Presidency of the Republic.
The Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium now holds the distinction of being the largest covered stadium in Algeria, with a seating capacity of 52,000. In addition to the main stadium, the facility includes a 7,000-seat athletics stadium, a natural grass training field, and parking accommodations for 4,000 vehicles. This advancement is particularly significant for the sports community in Tizi-Ouzou, especially for the many supporters of the Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie (JSK), who have eagerly anticipated the stadium’s opening.
President Tebboune’s visit and the inauguration of this cutting-edge sports facility highlight the government’s dedication to improving sports infrastructure and fostering local development in Tizi-Ouzou. The newly opened stadium is poised to become a central venue for major sports events, serving as a symbol of pride for the local populace.
