ALGIERS- The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has undertaken a significant reshuffling of the wilaya secretaries-general, promoting 15 local executives in the process.
According to a press release from the Ministry of the Interior, the President carried out this extensive movement based on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies, and Regional Planning, Mr. Brahim Merad.
The press release states, “Fifteen (15) local executives from the corps of general inspectors of wilayas, directors of local administration, regulation and general affairs, and heads of daïras have been promoted to the position of wilaya secretaries-general.”
Additionally, the reshuffling involves the transfer of seven (7) secretaries-general to other wilayas, while six (6) wilaya secretaries-general will be relieved of their duties.
The press release further explains that this movement, following the President’s previous changes in the walis and walis delegates, aims to “strengthen local development and ensure the effective implementation of related decisions, particularly through the supervision of local affairs by qualified and competent executives.”
