Algiers, Algeria | June 21st, 2024 — On Thursday, a significant reshuffle took place within Algeria’s Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) following an order from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The state television announced this development, highlighting the strategic realignment within the national police force.
Constitutional Mandate for Leadership Changes
In accordance with Article 92 of the Algerian Constitution, President Tebboune authorized this special movement of senior officials within the DGSN. The changes were proposed by the Director General of National Security and received the approval of the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Development.
New Appointments in National Security Directorate
Ten new senior officials have been appointed to key positions within the DGSN:
1. Police Commissioner Zarrouk Tidjani – Director of General Intelligence
2. Police Commissioner Deryad Arslan – Director of Public Security
3. Police Commissioner Laouar Kamel – Director of Border Police
4. Police Commissioner Bouhmed Boubekeur – Director of Studies at the Directorate General of National Security
5. Senior Police Brigadier General Keddaoui Khaled – Director of Studies at the Directorate General of National Security
6. Police Brigadier General Bouariche Zahra – Deputy Director of Studies and Organization at the Directorate General of Police
7. Police Brigadier General Mechane Abdelhak – Head of the Central Department for Combating Organized Crime
8. Senior Police Brigadier General Nasser Boumediene – Deputy Director of Recruitment and Selection
9. Police Brigadier Thabet Hilal Fathallah Sayed Ahmed- Deputy Chief of Staff
New Provincial Security Chiefs
Eighteen new chiefs of provincial security have been appointed:
1. Police Commissioner Sidhoum Hassan – Chief of Security for Mascara Province
2. Police Commissioner Douci Djilali – Chief of Security for Boumerdes Province
3. Police Commissioner Hachlaf Ali- Chief of Security for Constantine Province
4. Police Commissioner Tahouri Djilali – Chief of Security for Ouargla Province
5. Police Commissioner Rafi Dabbah Rachid – Chief of Security for Bordj Bou Arreridj Province
6. Police Brigadier General Ait Othman Abdelkader – Chief of Security for El Meghaier Province
