President Tebboune Issues Strong Directives to Support Exporters, Drive Algeria’s Export Strategy

Algiers, Algeria | December 15th, 2024 — Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over a high-level meeting focused on the country’s export sector, reinforcing his government’s commitment to addressing exporters’ concerns and enhancing Algeria’s global competitiveness. The meeting, held on Sunday, was attended by key government figures, including the Director of the Presidential Cabinet, members of the government, leaders of economic institutions, and representatives of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, led by Kamel Moula.

Following the meeting, Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Mohamed Boukhari, emphasized that President Tebboune had issued “strict directives” to effectively address the challenges faced by Algerian exporters. The president’s instructions aim to streamline procedures and ensure that exporters’ concerns are resolved swiftly and efficiently.

Minister Boukhari stated, “The meeting allowed us to listen to the projects and concerns of economic operators, and the president has given clear and decisive directions for a quick, accurate, and effective response to these concerns.” He further revealed that President Tebboune is pushing for a new strategic vision that aims to position Algeria as a leading export hub, with a focus on diversifying the economy and strengthening its presence in international markets.

This meeting follows a series of similar engagements, including a session on November 21, 2024, where President Tebboune discussed export-related matters with ministers and economic stakeholders. Additionally, in early December, a meeting was held to address issues related to industrial land development, showcasing the administration’s proactive approach to addressing economic challenges.

The meetings are part of a broader government initiative following the recent cabinet reshuffle, which saw the appointment of new ministers overseeing both foreign trade and internal commerce. These changes reflect Algeria’s commitment to fostering an export-driven economy, addressing systemic challenges, and capitalizing on global market opportunities.
