Algiers, Algeria | July 10th, 2024 — During his visit to the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou, President Tebboune inaugurated a long-awaited project that signifies a transformative milestone for the region.
The President of the Republic officially launched the construction of the new University Hospital Center (CHU) of Tizi Ouzou, a project eagerly anticipated by local residents and healthcare professionals alike.
According to Farid Salmi, the Director of Health for the wilaya, speaking to Echourouk TV, the new CHU will feature a capacity of 500 beds, making it a pivotal addition to the region’s healthcare infrastructure. Salmi described the project as “structural,” emphasizing its comprehensive coverage of medical specialties, including state-of-the-art innovations in healthcare.
The establishment of the new CHU is expected to permanently enhance the region’s healthcare landscape, bolstering existing capacities that have been strained by the limitations of the current Mohamed Nedir CHU, which, according to Salmi, suffers from outdated infrastructure unable to meet current demands.
Designed to adhere to international standards, the new CHU of Tizi Ouzou promises advanced patient care facilities and optimal working conditions for medical staff, ensuring a significant advancement in healthcare delivery across the region.
