President Tebboune Meets with Cameroonian Foreign Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella: “This Visit Aims to Strengthen Bilateral Relations and Cooperation”

Algiers, Algeria | December 22nd, 2024 — On Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune hosted the Minister of External Relations of Cameroon, Mr. Lejeune Mbella Mbella, in a significant meeting held at the Presidential Palace. The discussions centered on strengthening the bilateral relations between Algeria and Cameroon, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation across various sectors.

The meeting, which was attended by the Director of the President’s Office, Mr. Boualem Boualem, and Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, underscored the importance of the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

Following the meeting, Minister Mbella Mbella emphasized that his visit aimed to further consolidate the ties between Algeria and Cameroon. He highlighted that the discussions with President Tebboune were centered around reinforcing their partnership and ensuring continued collaboration on regional and international issues.

Mbella Mbella also conveyed a personal message of friendship and solidarity from his Cameroonian counterpart, President Paul Biya, reiterating the warmth and mutual respect that exists between the two leaders. He stressed that both nations are committed to advancing their relations at all levels, particularly in areas of mutual interest, including political, economic, and security cooperation.

In his statements, the Cameroonian foreign minister acknowledged Algeria’s pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in Africa and emphasized the shared vision of both countries for a more equitable international order.

The visit comes on the heels of a similar meeting between Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Foreign Minister, and his Cameroonian counterpart on Saturday. Minister Attaf highlighted that both Algeria and Cameroon are aligned in their efforts to advocate for a more just and balanced international system, one that ensures the African continent’s voice is heard and that Africa plays a central role in global affairs.
