Algiers, Algeria | June 27th, 2024 — The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received the United States Ambassador to Algeria, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore Aubin, on Wednesday in Algiers. The meeting took place in the presence of the Director of the Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Boualem Boualem.
Following the audience with President Tebboune, Ambassador Aubin expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to discuss the bilateral relations between Algeria and the United States. “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the President of the Republic for this audience, which allowed us to discuss the solid and ever-growing bilateral relations between Algeria and the United States of America,” said Ambassador Aubin in her statement.
Expanding Cooperation in Various Domains
The meeting provided a platform for Ambassador Aubin to highlight the extensive cooperation between the two countries, particularly in economic, security, and cultural spheres. She reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to launching direct flights between the two nations, which is expected to elevate bilateral relations to new heights. “We also discussed the expanding cooperation between our countries in various international fora, aiming to find solutions to issues of common interest,” she added, referencing the recent meeting between Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Joe Biden at the G7 Summit in Italy.
Ambassador Aubin emphasized the importance of joint efforts between Algeria and the United States, particularly concerning the situation in Gaza. She highlighted the shared goal of achieving an immediate ceasefire and ensuring a secure and prosperous state for the Palestinian people. This collaborative approach, she noted, is a testament to the strong partnership between the two nations in addressing global and regional challenges.
Celebrating Algeria’s Independence
Concluding her remarks, Ambassador Aubin extended her best wishes to President Tebboune and the Algerian people on the occasion of Algeria’s Independence Day on July 5th. She expressed her desire to continue building on the strong foundations of cooperation between Algeria and the United States, looking forward to future developments in their bilateral relations.
