President Tebboune Receives Senegalese Minister of Armed Forces, Strengthening Bilateral Military Ties

Algiers, Algeria | January 16th, 2025 — In a meeting held on Thursday, President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who also serves as the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, welcomed Mr. Birame Diop, the Minister of Armed Forces of the Republic of Senegal. The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Palace, underscored the enduring and robust military cooperation between the two nations.

Mr. Diop, who is on a diplomatic mission as a special envoy of Senegalese President Macky Sall, carried a letter addressed to President Tebboune. This letter symbolizes the deepening of ties and collaborative efforts between Algeria and Senegal, particularly in the areas of defense and security.

A statement from the Algerian Presidency highlighted that the meeting was attended by Mr. Boualem Boualem, Director of the Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic.

The visit of Minister Diop is seen as an important milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Algeria and Senegal, which has been based on shared interests in regional stability, counterterrorism, and military cooperation.
