ALGIERS- In a decisive address during the conclusion of the Entrepreneurship Days at the “Abdelatif Rahal” International Conference Center, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized the pivotal role of startups in Algeria’s development and expressed the country’s ambitious aspirations to be a leader in the continental and international startup landscape.
President Tebboune began by commending the potential of Algerian youth, particularly those engaged in innovative projects and startups. He highlighted the crucial role that young entrepreneurs play in driving the socio-economic development of the country. The President lauded the achievements of Algerian startups, underscoring their creativity and innovation. He cited an example of a local startup that manufactures and exports satellite components, showcasing the technological prowess emerging from Algeria.
Call for Support and Encouragement
Emphasizing that the knowledge economy sector reflects an “innovative and wealth-creating” Algeria, President Tebboune called on relevant authorities, business leaders, and the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) to support and encourage young entrepreneurs. He stressed the importance of taking collective responsibility for nurturing and empowering the startup ecosystem.
President Tebboune highlighted the socio-economic significance of micro-enterprises, stating that these entities are now the driving force behind Algeria’s overall development. He acknowledged the sector’s enduring social impact on the state and emphasized the need for continued support.
Progress in Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
Reflecting on the multitude of measures implemented over the past three years to enhance the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, President Tebboune noted that Algeria has made significant progress in its continental startup rankings. He highlighted the country’s improved standing and expressed the government’s commitment to further fostering a conducive environment for startups.
