The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed, Monday, that the Constitution of 2020 had consolidated the achievements made by the Algerian woman who proved her competence in the occupation of responsibilities and high functions within the State.
“Algeria has enshrined in its constitution amended in 2020, the principle of parity between the two sexes in all areas, professional and electoral, as well as the protection of women against violence in all its forms in all places and circumstances in public space and in the professional and private spaces. It is a qualitative leap that has reinforced the achievements of the Algerian woman who has marked her presence and proved her competence in the occupation of responsibilities and high functions in the within the State”, indicated the President of the Republic in a speech read on his behalf by the Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, by videoconference, on the occasion of the celebration of International Women’s Day, in coordination with the League of Arab States, under the theme “The Arab woman…singularity and aspiration”.
President Tebboune has taken the opportunity to address his “thanks and esteem to all Arab women working in the field of health for their efforts in the fight against Coronavirus (Covid-19)”.
In the same context, he recalled that International Women’s Day “takes place this year in unusual conditions that we have been experiencing for two years like the rest of the countries of the world, impacted by the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic in all aspects of health, social and economic life”.
“In these circumstances, several Arab women have been able to make achievements in different fields, distinguishing themselves with merit in some, which has enabled them to win regional and international prizes considered as medals of pride for our Arab nation”, he underlined.
“These results are only the reflection of the interest accorded by the leaders of Arab countries to women, starting from the establishment of a legal framework favoring their promotion and empowerment, which has enabled them to progress and make more achievements in several areas”, continued President Tebboune.
