ALGIERS- Exercising a responsibility within the institutions of the State, “means protecting the citizens and not occupying a seat and adorning oneself with a red burnouse”, indicated the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during his periodic interview with representatives of local media, broadcast yesterday by national television channels.
Recalling, in this sense, that there is now a new national context, President Tebboune reaffirmed, bluntly, that the era of impunity is definitely over.
“All those who are guilty of serious misconduct will be punished, whether ministers or others,” he warned, adding: “The law will now apply to everyone, without exception, and in all its rigor.”
Asked about his possible intentions to create his own political party, Abdelmadjid Tebboune formally ruled out this option, stating that he would rather rely on the civil society movement, in particular the High Council for Youth, which serves as a real parliament for this fringe of citizens.
With regard to economic issues, President Tebboune reaffirmed his commitment and attachment to continuing to implement the various reform projects initiated, particularly in the agricultural sector, which continues to show exceptional performance, including a production level valued at $35 billion.
“Agriculture should be a science and not mere traditions”
Nevertheless, he noted, “the agricultural sector is run by a bankrupt institution, while agriculture must be a science and not mere tradition.”.
Regarding the process initiated by Algeria for the purpose of joining the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), the President argued that this membership is likely to bring many benefits to the country, both at the geopolitical level and through the possibility of access to the financing capacities available to the members of this group, which could thus benefit investment and the diversification of the national economy.
In the same vein, the President did not fail to reiterate the will of Algeria to continue its redeployment towards Africa, in particular through the opening of new airlines to serve many destinations.
Similarly, the President announced many new measures, including the launch of an international radio station dedicated to Africa, the establishment of permanent trade fairs in certain African capitals, such as Dakar, Abidjan, and Nouakchott, as well as the opening of new maritime transport lines to the Senegalese and Mauritanian capitals, which, he said, has not been easy to achieve due to blocking attempts by certain foreign lobbies.
In addition, he said, the Algerian agency for international cooperation for solidarity and development will launch, in a few months, many development projects in certain regions of neighboring countries, including a school and a clinic in Kidal, in northern Mali, as well as drinking water boreholes at the request of neighboring African countries.
Finally, with regard to relations with Syria, President Tebboune affirmed that Syria is a founding member of the Arab League, and cannot be deprived of its rights.
“We have not changed with respect to Syria, and Syria has not changed for us. What we are doing is based on the fact that Syria is a founding member of the Arab League and cannot be isolated or set aside its rights” Tebboune said during a meeting with representatives of the national press.
President Tebboune pointed out that Algeria’s aid to its sisterly Syria during the earthquake was a donation from the heart that is not subject to any political considerations.
Algerian President indicated that “there is an international system that imposes itself on the weak before the strong, and we hope that will change.”
He also expressed his hope that the Arab vision will change and that the divided situation in which the Arab nation finds itself will come to an end .
He concluded that we have said it many times, especially at the Arab League meeting, that as Arabs we should be the first to believe in our vision.
