ALGIERS– President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in a significant move to enhance regional development and foster economic growth, presided over a council of ministers this Sunday where he issued a groundbreaking directive. He has given the green light to the continued development and creation of new wilayas, particularly in the southern regions and high plateaus of Algeria, with plans to extend this initiative to the north of the country in the near future.

The decision, as outlined in an official press release from the Council of Ministers, indicates that the project’s progression will be closely supervised by the Minister of the Interior in collaboration with various other concerned sectors. This bold undertaking represents President Tebboune’s unwavering commitment to elevate local development, establish thriving economic zones, and ease the daily burdens faced by Algerian citizens.

The initiative’s primary objective is to instigate a widespread transformation of the country’s wilayas, leading to increased prosperity and improved living conditions for the people of Algeria. The creation of new delegated wilayas is expected to have far-reaching impacts on both urban and rural areas, injecting fresh economic opportunities, fostering infrastructural growth, and ultimately alleviating the socio-economic challenges faced by many citizens.

President Tebboune, while explaining the rationale behind this decision, underscored that the development of new wilayas was essential to achieving Algeria’s overarching national objectives. This visionary approach will contribute significantly to ensuring equitable access to essential services, infrastructure, and employment opportunities across various regions of the country.

The press release further emphasizes that this endeavor will be undertaken with a meticulous understanding of the State’s capacity to create new wilayas. A pragmatic approach to the process will ensure that resources are efficiently allocated, and all newly created wilayas are self-sustaining and fully capable of supporting their communities.

The announcement is not only a testament to President Tebboune’s dedication to the Algerian people but also a beacon of hope for those residing in underserved areas. By launching this initiative, the government is taking proactive steps to address issues related to underdevelopment, unemployment, and inadequate access to public services.
